Creepy legs and spikes at the end. All over Bea’s school books. One landed on Lisa’s head.
Fieldguide
The albino springbok stood out like a sore thumb against the landscape. An exciting sighting as none of us had seen one before.
Moves faster than you’d think.
Loves juicy lettuce better than grass. Has a long pink tongue, efficient if inelegant eater. Not afraid of humans.
Quick as a wink, but slower than a flying Tupperware.
Bea is quick at catching crickets. (Try saying it fast, again and again…!)
Sweet-looking little doves that are all over the garden here and eat the dogs’ food.
Fiery red. Small and cute. Looks naughty.
Funny hat on head. Not too smart. They run on the road ahead of the car and don’t realize they can just escape by running to the side. Eat anything (seeds, insects, worms, flowers, snails…)
Compound eyes. Eats living plants. Female lays eggs in soil in egg case using her ovipositor (which is at the end of her abdomen). Babies hatch 1 month later. Locusts are a kind of grasshopper.
